Order of inspection
P0488 EGR Throttle Position Control Range/Performance Medium
The P0488 code indicates that the EGR throttle responds electrically, but the result is not what the computer expects. Expect a loss of power or limp mode, particulate filter regenerations that do not finish and smoke on diesels. A throttle clogged with carbon is the usual cause.
