How your codes relate
- EVAP codes do not affect how the engine runs. Start with the fuel cap (it is free) and leave the smoke test for last.
The order below is the recommended one: first the codes that can cause the others. After each repair, clear the codes and check which ones come back.
Order of inspection
P0457 Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Fuel Cap Loose/Off) Low
The P0457 code means the computer detected a leak in the fuel vapor system that matches a fuel cap that is loose or missing. It is the easiest EVAP code to solve. It is a low severity code and you can keep driving, but you should fix it to pass an emissions inspection.
