Order of inspection
P0118 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Medium
The P0118 code means the computer read a higher voltage than possible in the coolant temperature sensor circuit, which is the same as an absurdly cold engine. It is almost always an open circuit: a loose connector, a cut wire or a sensor broken inside. It is cheap to repair, but its effects on fuel use and starting are noticeable.
